Teleoperation
Human-in-the-loop control for collecting robot demonstration data.
What Is Teleoperation?
Teleoperation is remote control of a robot by a human operator. In robot learning, it's the primary way to collect demonstrations: the human moves the robot (or a master device), and the system records state-action trajectories for imitation learning.
Types
- Kinesthetic teaching — Operator physically guides the robot arm.
- Bimanual teleop — Two arms controlled by two master arms (e.g., ALOHA).
- Mobile + manipulation — Mobile base + arms (e.g., Mobile ALOHA).
- Haptic / VR — Operator uses haptic devices or VR controllers.
